Test Kitchen - Homemade Gourmet Tortilla Soup with Three Cheese Garlic Biscuits

The Tortilla Soup was very easy to make.  Just add a 15oz can of diced tomatoes, 5 cups of water, and the seasoning pack to a pan - bring to boil - then let simmer for 20 minutes.
I used a 10oz can of Rotel Diced Tomatoes and a 4oz can of chopped Green Chilis.
I placed a handful of shredded colby-jack cheese in the bowl - the pour the soup over it.
It was very tasty.

The biscuits were easy as well.  Just add water and cheese and stir.  They bake in 15 minutes.
Overall, a pretty quick and easy meal.
I will make both of these again.

pescado con corteza de tortilla (tortilla crusted fish)

con arroz, pimientos, poblanos y maiz en salsa de crema acida
(with rice, poblano peppers & corn in a sour cream sauce)

This was my lunch today.
Not too bad for Lean Cuisine - like a spicy fish stick.
BTW, the fish is alaska pollack - ever heard of it ?
Me neither!

In the Pink

I am not lying when I say that I just love the color pink.
I especially love pink and black together.
It makes my heart sing for some reason.
Yes, that IS a real wine bottle from Luna di Luna - their new pink merlot.
I found it at Jimmy's - a small italian market close to my office downtown.

Test Kitchen - Homemade Gourmet - Season n Steam Sloppy Joe Mix

Sloppy Joes, Sloppy Sloppy Joes (Adam Sandler singing the Lunch Lady song- I think of this song EVERYTIME I think about Sloppy Joes)
Ok...
This was a bit weird for me.
First you cook 2lbs of ground beef in a ziploc bag in the microwave.
The ziploc bag is provided with the mix from Homemade Gourmet.
You drain the grease.. this wasn't as easy as the directions made it sound.
The liquid is supposed to drain out through the vent holes, but it took too long for me.
I ended up dumping the meat in a colander
Putting the meat back in the ziploc bag wasn't very easy, so I do not recommend taking it out of the ziploc like I did
Then you add tomato sauce and the provided seasonings.
Once this is mixed in ( I used my Pampered Chef Mixing Tool)  with the ground beef in the ziploc
You microwave it some more.

My son ate it because he was STARVING, but the flavor was a little bland for me.
I am used to making sloppy joes with tomato paste.. so I think it wasn't "rich" tasting enough for me.
It wasn't awful, but I will not be making this one again.
I did have success with the 3 Cheese Garlic Biscuits and the Tortilla Soup..so stay tuned for that update.

Sight Seeing in Canton aka First Monday

There were several groups of women wearing personalized matching t-shirts.
I promise if you ever go with me, I will not make you wear a matching t-shirt.

Large metal grasshopper?

Being Halloween, of course people would be dressed up.
 I love the pink wig.

I think her hair turned pink from being under this flowery pink hair dryer.
