Day 5 - Snow Snow Go Away

Is waiting for snow to melt like
waiting for a pot of water to boil?

Watching doesn't make it go any faster

The sun is out - yay
It's only 22 degrees - boo
The roads by my house are still very slick - boo
The high for today is supposed to be  in the 40's -yay
We are supposed to reach 32 by Noon - yay
I'm just saying
bring
it
on

SUN
melt
that
SNOW

Ryan and I are going to my dad's for the game.
He is making baby back ribs.  I'm using this as an excuse to try some new recipes.

So here we go...

(Combination of The Pioneer Woman and Paula Deen

(A girl I work with serves this at all her parties, and I love it)

( I have not tried this dip before, but saw it on a SITS featured daily blog from December 2009 and have been dying to try it)

(I have not tried this one either, but OMG - it just sounds good)

Time to get cooking~

I'm following the rcipes exactly - except the Twice Baked Potatoes.
I'm following Pioneer Woman's recipe, but adding cream cheese from Paula Deen's recipe. In The Pioneer Woman Cooks, she uses fresh bacon and so will I.  On her recipe on the website, she uses Hormel packages bacon crumbles.  Note: If you have NOT purchased her cookbook, stop, go to Amazon.com and get a copy. It's the best cookbook EVER.

Corn Chowder with Jalapeno Cheese Beer Mini-Muffins

It's a snow day here in Dallas
In anticipation last night, I made this
delicious
corn chowder
I got this recipe
from anniebakes blog
(remember a couple of weeks ago
when I made her awesome bruschetta dip?)

Here is the yummy goodness up close!

I followed the recipe exactly
with the exception
of adding
black & cayenne pepper
for seasoning

These mini-muffins went perfectly with the chowder
Jalapeno Cheese Beer Mini-Muffins

I used this recipe
from

Instead of using a loaf pan, I used a mini-muffin pan
buttered the bottom of each cup
and then
topped off each muffin with more butter
Paula Deen step back

These were just delicious
