4th of July

Recently, I blogged
about Walmart's
fun red, white, and blue plates, glasses, etc.

I got these red and white plastic plates at Target for .99 cents
I already had the blue plastic wine glasses

I did buy the cute red and white flower BHG plates at Walmart
I also got the star "napkins" (bandanas) @ Walmart
The red pails are from Hobby Lobby

I received Pottery Barn's Summer Catalog this week
and
it has inspired me to go buy carnations
while they are not my favorite flower
but should fit in perfectly with my kitzchy summer table

Ironing Sheets

Remember when I went to the Pottery Barn free decorating class?

As I was throwing my sheets in the dryer, I remembered one of the topics discussed

ironing sheets

my question is...

..who does this?

I can honestly say I have never ironed a sheet in my life even though I do have a fresh linen spray in case I should ever get the urge

I love the feeling of taking a nice hot bath, and sliding into a nice warm bed with sheets right out of the dryer.

Apparently, I'm missing out because ironing your sheets makes this experience even more luxurious !

I like the "idea" of sleeping on freshly ironed sheets, but do not like actually being the one to have to doing the ironing.

So, answer this for me .. do you iron your sheets?

Homemade Bread

Doesn't it look pretty on my new Pottery Barn board?

I recently read that apparently the "No Knead Bread" is one of the most blogged about recipes almost to the point that it might be considered lame to post it again.
Well, that's ok because sometimes lame is my middle name.

Thanksgiving 2009 Countdown - 3 Days

I dream of an elegant Thanksgiving - with a glamourous table"scape" ...

like this one from Pottery Barn..

but alas.. that's not how we roll in my family

Ours is a potluck, and because there are so many people, there are a lot of small tables (that do not match) - more like "country" chic, and we typically eat with paper goods similar to these below...

It's still fun and festive, just a little bit "rustic".. you might say.
For those of you who are new to my blog, click here to see how my son and I spend our Thanksgiving festivities.  Or as Jeff Foxworthy might say...

"You might be a REDNECK, if you use a John Deere tractor to get your cooked turkeys out of the oven ground.
