iPhone Blues

Here is an excellent example of WHY EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE THE PROTECTOR CASE!

Yes, this is my phone. This happened a week ago.

Seriously, are "words" even necessary ?

The bottom line is this - I ripped the "case" - and since it was the 2nd one, I got cocky and thought I didn't need "no stinking case"...

...and then I dropped it.

For those who are in a "contract" like me, and cannot afford $299 to replace the phone, there is hope...

See.. there's even a $99 special on "cracked screens"...

Herbal Experiment - Day 46

The last update on the Herbal Experiment was on June 25th. Since then I have lost the thyme. ***sigh***
The basil from farmers market seems to be hanging in there. It got a little wilty last week, but it is springing back. It started to bud flowers which is a good sign. Per the instructions that I googled, you are supposed to remove the flowers, so I did.
This picture was taken a week ago on 7/16.
Wilting with flowers.

This picture was taken this morning, 7/23. It's looking alot better.
Of course, this pot also had thyme and parsley. The parsley is gone, but the thyme is still there but barely hanging on. Next time, I will not plant thyme with basil. I think I might plant the thyme in the ground.

So, in this pot I originally planted seeds from a buzzy seeds kit. I planted cilantro, chives, parsley, marjoram, basil and thyme. The only thing still alive is the basil. It started wilting last week , but it came back.

Here are the sage, lavender and chives I bought at Farmers Market. The sage is doing good. The lavender and chives are surviving but haven't made much progress since I planted them 46 days ago.

Second Time's The Charm

We went to the new Dallas Cowboy Stadium on Tuesday. We got there just in time. It got super crowded very quick. There were 65 people on our tour with us. These pictures were taken with my iPhone. I really need to get a decent camera.

The tour started with us sitting in the stadium. This is the view from where we were sitting.
These lights are to resemble the stitches on a football.

These "floating" helmets remind me of something out of a scene from "Terminator". These can be found in the Cottonbowl Room.

This is in the Miller Lite Club.

I think it is extremely important that we see the actual temperature of how cold our beer is AT ALL TIMES.

Slipper Genie Update

Here's another innovative "As Seen On TV" consumer product.
I saw these at Walmart for only $5.96, and tried discreetly to take this picture. All I have to say is "Seriously???" I'd most definitely be GUARANTEED to break another bone wearing these. I'd for sure trip on something.

Click on link. You can get a free pastry with a beverage purchase at participating Starbucks on Tuesday, 7/21 until 10:30am.

Since today's theme appears to be Starbucks, I might as well include a link to the story that they are going to start selling beer and wine. They are testing it in Seattle first.. See below link

Access Denied!!!

I have guests in from Chicago. I was feeling so proud to be the "perfect hostess" by taking them to the newest attraction D/FW has to offer. The brand new Dallas Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, TX. We looked online, and you can't book ahead of time - you just show up. Tours start at 10am, and while we did get a late start, thought we had plenty of time. We got there about 11am, and the tours were already SOLD OUT. It was so devastating. My "perfect" hostess hat totally deflated.
Of course, we came all that way, so we HAD to shop in the Pro Shop. Surprisedly, prices were not that outrageous. I actually got a tank top that says "I love the Dallas Cowboys" for 9.99, a recycle bag for 1.99, and a plastic beer mug with lights for 12.99.
Determined to not lose my "Perfect" hostess card forever, we are going to try to go again on Tuesday morning before my guests head back to Chicago.

One Year "simplysandiblog" Anniversary

I became a "blogger" exactly one year ago today. Wow! Life is so random, and I've loved capturing it one "blog" at a time. Blogging isn't easy. If you build a "fan base" aka "follower", then you have to keep up with it because people get disappointed when they check out your blog, and it hasn't been updated. Oh my gah, the pressure!

My friend, Jen and I came up with the word "blugging" which is blogging when you're blue.. and who wants to read that.. so I made a decision that my blog wouldn't be a diatribe of my opinions and beliefs but brief, caustic and funny. Personally, my attention span is limited to articles that are one page or less, so it's always been my intent for the most part to keep my blogs very short and to the point... unlike now when I feel the need to ramble and reflect on my first year of blogging. So bare with me.

Until a year ago, blogging was for other people.. and I didn't even read blogs. Now, I am an "official" blog stalker. Finding awesome blogs is so fun. There are so many, it's hard to keep up. I have to admit that I "stolen" ideas from many blogs. Right now, my blog is "back to the basics". I want to explore a different layout and add cool gadgets. So, I promise a year from now it'll be really cool. So Please KEEP READING! Please BE A FOLLOWER! Please add your COMMENTS. I love comments. Except when they are spam ads - then that is just aggravating.

so far the only person that classes up a scooter is Aunt Janae - remember ?

Twilighters...

I have found a new awesome series. A friend loaned me "City of Bones" by Cassandra Clarke like 6 months ago. I put it aside as a "book I will read when I have nothing else to read". So, I picked it up this weekend, and when I saw that the main character was 15 years old, I almost put it down (just like I almost did with "Twilight") - but once I started reading it - LOVED IT... just like "Twilight". I couldn't wait to get the next book "City of Ashes". I looked at Half Price Books first, but they didn't have it. I felt a little weird looking in the young adults section, but oh well. I found it at Borders - in the young adult section. I almost picked up the third book "City of Glass" but it was hardback ($$), and I figured that was too much to spend on books - because we all know that I didn't leave Half Price Books empty handed!

Becoming More Than Just a Good Bible Study Girl

We kicked off our bible study on Saturday. This is our 7th book over the last 5 years. I am really excited about this book. It was just r...
